I think when we get many Years under our belt walking with God we can tend to become like the Galatians. I forget God’s Grace even though I have it and I’m saved by it.
But Spurgeon says “there cannot be a greater difference in the world between 2 things than there is between law and grace. And yet, strange to say, while the things are diametrically opposed and essentially different from each other, the human mind is so depraved and the intellect, even when blessed by The Spirit, has become so turned aside from right judgement, that one of the most difficult things in the world is to discriminate properly between law and grace. He who knows the difference- and always remembers the essential difference between law and grace- has grasped the essence of theology. He is not far from understanding the Gospel theme in all its ramifications, its outlets and its branches, who can properly tell the difference between law and grace.”
Here’s a Grace that leads to humility:
Lets get real about Temptations.
I hope they are real for you. For Me, yes. The minute i believe i have conquered tempation I’m like the pharisee, i have forgotten Grace to me.
I’m in Mexico (cabo) relaxing and fighting a doozy of a cold and today (January 1, 2023) as I’m meeting new people (strangers for Goodness sakes) one of the first questions they ask is not “hi whats your name” but rather “did you party all night last night” considering it was new Years eve and the only way i could answer that was, i would have but by the restraining Grace of God, through The Power of His Spirit i didnt.
It is vital to give the real answer to why we do or don’t do anything. This is a very intense work out with God so that we believers meditate continually on the Truth that the only thing that separates a believer from a non-believer is Jesus. And believer, we may know that but it is important to plant the Gospel seeds into a non-believer by God’s Amazing Grace.
I’m more shocked, amazed and wowed to see someone walking in the Spirit than someone indulging their flesh. I’m never shocked by that anymore because i get it. But Holy Spirit is Amazing and I am Grateful for Him! Lets praise God and be wowed by Him in front of others when we see The Spirit of God flowing out of His People.
“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
“Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
Grace and Peace,
