I have many little Christianese reminders from my childhood that come up often and I get a kick out of it… for instance it always goes somewhat like this.
I will say “I used to listen to this when I was a kid.” Olivia says “wow and you still didn’t know or Love Jesus.” I reply, “Nope.”
This blesses me so greatly for the purposes of teaching Who in fact makes us know and love.
“There is no boasting here, sweetie, He opens the eyes of the blind and makes the deaf to hear and causes a heart to seek Him.
So honey if those miracles have been granted to you, praise God because you would never be able to do it on your own. This is God’s Amazing grace towards you… so love Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength because He gave you the ability and love others well thanking Him in all things because you are securely and simply His daughter Who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous Light.”
This was the song that we heard recently, a song I listened to often as a kid. So don’t forget this song parents. They may not “hear” it today but pray God will grant them ears to hear one day soon.

The struggle is real between our flesh and The Spirit. Parents take note: I asked Olivia why is it so hard to talk about God with some people, like they don’t want to hear it, Christians even? If we are His and everything is about Him, why does bringing God into it and discussions in His Word still cause arguments and confusion? My 11 year old spoke very frank without delay… “I know exactly why because I used to do that. Like when you would respond to me with verses and what God says, I would kind of walk away because my heart was prideful and I thought I knew everything, but I never said anything back to you, I was just quiet.” I looked at her with a wow face. I said, “wow sweetie, that was very honest and I’m so glad you told me that. So do you sometimes do that now?” She quickly replies, “No, I love hearing what God says and delight for you teach me.” How old are you sweetie? Lord, You have so graciously given her a humble Spirit, yet a heart of justice, continue to grow her confidence in You Father.
Do not miss this conversation, you never know what you might get.
How beautiful that you are teaching your precious daughter so many things about not only God but life in general!! You are totally fulfilling your role as a mother and I just love reading it and the willingness you have to share with all of us. Thank you Rachel for your loving heart for God and others.
